On January 21, 2017, millions of women and men took the streets around the world, including 800 people in Sharon, PA, in a show of solidarity for women’s rights and social justice. Since then, seasoned activists and newcomers have joined resistance efforts across the country. One year later, on January 20, 2018, we will celebrate the spirit of resistance and unite in preparation for the 2018 local, state, and Congressional elections. Working together we will move from resistance to power and make progress in our communities, state, and country.
Women’s March participants will show their force in the street and learn how to transform this force into political power. A rally will begin at noon in downtown Sharon, followed by a march through the city, past Rep. Mike Kelly’s office. During the event, organizers will also crowdsource a platform for the resistance in Mercer County, which will be the basis of a candidate forum to be held on February 17, 2018.
Everyone participating in this march will be required to abide by all applicable laws and lawful orders of authorities. This march will be nonviolent and will not involve any civil disobedience or other violation of law.
