Philipp Matalla

I discovered Philipp Matalla's music five years ago when he released his Space Line EP on Prins Thomas's Internasjonal label. It immediately struck a chord with me, and I kept checking his releases. I was amazed to hear his releases on Kann records a few years later, on which he moved slightly to other directions.

Matalla deals with the sabotage of common patterns and dynamics in music scenes by drawing on a multifaceted repertoire, ranging from disco, funk and house to industrial and noise and incorporating rhythm patterns from all around the globe. Contentually this leads to clashes of contrary conceptions related to textures and songs, bridges and edges or folklore and industry. He’s based in Berlin, Leipzig and inbetween, from where he released several records on labels such as Kann, Internasjonal and Kashual Plastik.

Lars Noll

Son to an Amish priest and a Serbian stripper, Lars spent most of his childhood years on the road. After his mother abandoned him, when he was only five years old, his single father had a hard time providing for Lars and his three siblings, all named Tim. Being dragged around Eastern Europe and West Africa, paying occasional visits to the middle east, the boys learned to adapt quickly. Growing up mostly amongst gipsys, guerilla warlords and religious fundamentalists, Lars developed a deep knowledge of all different kinds of cultures . After his father passed in the spring of 2007, he and his one remaining brother, made use of their european passports and eventually settled in Berlin. Making a living as a carpenter at daytime he invites you on Friday night to listen to some of the organic-mechanic tunes that he is driven by.

Besides all this Lars Noll is a passionate vinyl digger with a special appetite on post punk, underground ndw, kraut rock and related sounds. He hasn't any mixes online yet, but that will change soon probably. Until then, I promise that you won't be disappointed by his tasty record selection.
