Intersectionality in UK Politics: Panel Discussion

"There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives." - Audre Lorde

Kimberlé Crenshaw put a name to a movement when she first coined the term intersectionality. This idea helps to shed light on the overlap between various forms of oppression, which do not operate in isolation, but rather work to enforce one another.

Political systems are built to maintain hierarchies and reinforce specific power dynamics which inevitably create and maintain institutional violence. So how can intersectionality help to dismantle the UK's politics-as-usual - a politics which prioritizes the voices of an elite few? How can policy be crafted in such a way that it seeks to address systemic biases? What light can intersectionality shed on political power?

We are pulling together a fascinating group of speakers, both from academia and NGOs, who will speak to the questions above and share their insight as to how we can use intersectionality to disrupt politics-as-usual. Speakers to be announced shortly!
