On Labor Day: Fight For the Pittsburgh We Want.

En 228 Semple St, Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3905, United States
El 4 Septiembre 2017 07:00 - 14:00

Descripción

Pittsburgh is supposed to be America’s most livable city, but the new economy leaves many of us behind. Good union jobs in factories once created stable, secure work that allowed families to thrive. Hospital work, higher education and other service sector jobs are now the backbone of our economy, but too many Americans who work in these jobs are falling behind with low wages and no voice on the job.

We are coming together this Labor Day, September 4th, with hospital workers, fast food workers, faculty members, and more along with Fight for $15 workers in over 300 cities going on strike, to declare that America needs unions and...

We’re Building the Next Pittsburgh Now!

Labor Day: Monday, September 4

7:00 AM: Rally at Forbes Ave McDonalds

7:30 AM: Speak out at the Cathedral of
Learning on Bigelow

Bus transportation to the downtown
Labor Day parade will be provided

Because “eds and meds” sets the standard in our economy, we’re all held back. Women and people of color are hit hardest. That’s why retail and hospitality workers are campaigning to improve their wages and working conditions and UPMC hospital workers, University of Pittsburgh academic workers, and fast food workers are organizing unions. Managers are using pressure tactics to stop workers uniting, while politicians in Harrisburg and Washington, DC are pushing laws to destroy workers’ organizations. Join us on Labor Day for this day of action to stand up for working people in Pittsburgh and across the country!
