Women's March walks in support of Bigi Spikri

Lieve Women’s Marchers!

Aanstaande zaterdag is het Keti Koti, de nationale herdenking en viering van de afschaffing van de slavernij. Via onze sociale media-kanalen hebben we de laatste dagen al aandacht gevraagd voor het belang van deze dag en de activiteiten die in Amsterdam en Rotterdam georganiseerd worden. In Amsterdam begint de dag met de Bigi Spikri, een optocht van het Waterlooplein naar het Oosterpark. We hebben de organisatie gevraagd hoe we hen het best kunnen ondersteunen en ze hebben ons gevraagd deel te nemen aan deze optocht. Sluit je je bij ons aan? We verzamelen om 10.30 uur op het Waterlooplein (feestelijk gekleed!). De tocht begint om 11.00 uur, trekt door de stad (zodat iedereen wakker wordt en naar het Oosterpark komt!) en arriveert om 12.00 uur bij het Oosterpark.

As you know from our social media posts, Keti Koti, the national commemoration and celebration of the end of slavery is this coming Saturday. We’ve been talking about the context and importance of the activities going on in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and other cities.

In Amsterdam the day begins with Bigi Spikri, a walk from Waterlooplein to Oosterpark. We asked the organisers how we could best support Keti Koti, and they warmly encouraged us to take part in this walk. Will you join us? If so, please click on “going” in the event page, so the Keti Koti organisers know how many of us to expect.

We are asked to dress “festively” and will be gathering and meeting at 10:30 am at Waterlooplein (exact location will be announced). The walk begins at 11:00 am, proceding through the city and getting everyone we pass in a celebratory mood. Perhaps they will follow us...we will arrive at Oosterpark at noon.
