Sexual Avengers Welcome In 2017! A year of action ahead!

The 'Sexual-Avengers' is a new London-wide creative civil disobedience network for campaigns related to sexuality, gender and human rights. We are launching at the beginning of 2017 because this is the 50th anniversary of the 'Abortion Act' and the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in the passing of the 'Sexual Offences Act'.

We exist to learn from our feminist and queer ancestors and continue our journey for true liberation today on issues such as global LGBTQI+ decriminalisation, protection of reproductive rights and the establishment of LGBTQI+ / feminist community spaces.

We have many tricks up our sleeve and actions to get involved including -

1. 'The Great British Bugger Off' - This Valentine's Day 2017 - let's party where criminalisation began! In 1533, under the reign of Henry VIII, the Buggery Act was passed. This Act was the first legal milestone that would lead to centuries of increasing persecution of men who have sex with men. Henry was worried that if we weren’t criminalised we would set up buggery clubs and bugger the night away. So join us for a giant ‘Flash-Bugger’ as we bugger outside Henry VIII’s statue and celebrate how far we have come and highlight what we still need to do until we are all truly free.

2. ‘Queer brandalism’ week this February's LGBTQI History Month is our opportunity to play with public space and open up questions about homophobia and stigma, where it came from and and how it pervades in our society today. 'Queer Brandalism week' will pay homage to the sites of where our queer ancestors were killed and exploited as well as celebrate the sites of our subversiveness. Until we have our own LGBTQI+ museum and cultural centre we will use the streets as our canvas and billboards as our playground.
