Oakland Women for Bernie Meet-up

En California Nurses Association, 2000 Franklin Street. Oakland, CA 94612
El 10 Febrero 2016 19:00 - 21:00

Descripción

Join our circle of powerful women and allies in the East Bay as we discuss the needs of our communities and Senator Bernie Sanders' platform.

Our guest speakers of women making change in their communities around the Bay Area are:
J Miakoda Taylor, Fierce Allies
Barbara Ruffner, Democratic Socialists of America
Sierra Madre, Bay Area for Bernie
Martha Kuhl, National Nurses United
Elisabeth Berger Bolaza, CIIS Ph.D.C & ACLU Reproductive Justice Intern
Ruby Ann, Oakland

We'll be discussing Bernie Sanders' platform on issues that affect women - cis and trans, women of color, workers, mothers, Indigenous women, educators - and of course these issues affect men and families, as well! All are welcome.

The goal of this event is to build community, open up the conversation to our needs, wants, and vision. We're starting a grassroots revolution that can scale not just to Bernie's election, but to a tide change. The intersections of women, grassroots and politics are where sparks will illuminate!

An energetic and growing number of women will vote for Bernie in 2016 because of his progressive agenda on issues that affect women and their families. Our purpose is to bring together these women (and men too!) to discuss Bernie's agenda and strengthen our assertion that Bernie is the right candidate for women. As most of you know NARAL, Planned Parenthood and NOW have all endorsed Hillary Clinton but we are not going to let this sway us. We are women for Bernie and Bernie is for women!

To add to the fun, a video message will be delivered by the incredible Senator Nina Turner during the meet-ups!

HOST:Christina Leyva

Meet other local women who are supporting Bernie Sanders in conjunction with the nationwide meetup of Women for Bernie on February 10th. There will be a video message from Senator Nina Turner as well as food, drinks, and information on how you can help Bernie win!

We’ll be discussing the positive impact that Bernie's agenda will have on women's lives and show why he's the best choice for women! Bring any questions you have about Senator Sanders!

Men are also invited to join us, too! Although the event will probably be majority-women, we encourage all to attend. Women's issues should be of interest to men, just as they are to Bernie!
