Alicia Clements of Birr Castle will talk about her life in STEM and how her career has developed from engineering to project management based at Birr Castle. This talk on the 25th anniversary of the first formal meeting of WITS in 1990 continues WITS tradition of exploring women’s lives in STEM.
Biography
========
Born in 1971 in Iran, Alicia Parsons, daughter of the Earl of Rosse, descendant of Mary Rosse and the Third Earl of Rosse (three Greats), was educated in Algeria, UK and Ireland. She graduated with a BEng in Aeronautical Engineering, and studied Alternative Energy Engineering in UL. Alicia designed and built a passive solar house in Limerick and worked for Saft Nife UK.
Alicia is now almost exclusively a project manager and in recent years has secured funding and completed the total revamp of the Science centre at Birr and the Treehouse at Birr. She is now starting an environmental programme to preserve and promote the flora and fauna at Birr.
