The 2015 Berlin Feminist Film Week will open its doors on the 6th of March. We will start the week with an introduction into the topic of women and film with a panel discussion with a number of film professionals.
We have invited Alexandra Georgi, co-founder of WIFT Germany, Bettina Schoeller from Pro Quote Regie, filmmaker Isabell Šuba and filmjournalist Sophie Rieger to talk about how the situation for women in film look like and offer some of their thoughts on why.
The panel discussion will be followed by a screening of a short film program with our best BFFW2015 selection:
Spring / Tania Claudia Castillo / Mexico / 2014 / 16 min
Bad at dancing / Joanna Arnow / USA / 2014 / 11 min
Girl Power: All dolled up/ Sarah Blout Rosenberg / USA / 2011 / 24 min
Needle / Anahita Ghazvinizadeh / USA / 2013 / 21 min
Flying Solo / Leslie von Press / 2015 / USA / 8 min
Pussy Have the Power / Lovisa Sirén / Sweden / 2014 / 15 min
After the short film program, DJ Zimt will play female artists, there will be beer and wine on sale and we will exhibit some great art from Johanna Maierski ( http://cargocollective.com/johannamaierski) and Isabel Seliger ( http://www.isabelseliger.com/).
For the Berlin Feminist Film week Opening weekend, we will be curating an exhibition showing the works of two emerging creatives, both working in the 2D realm of drawing. Isabel Seliger ( http://www.isabelseliger.com/ ) creates ominous spaces peopled by mystery, abstracted figures and environments. The viewers eyes are directed towards the eternal internal.
Johanna Maierski (http://cargocollective.com/johannamaierski) is a soft dictator of realities. Her comic strips elucidate funny, tender ironic moments in her characters lives.
Curated by Alex Sebag.
We look forward to meeting you all!
