The 8th of March marks International Women's Day. This IWDs women and non-binary people will strike from manual and domestic labour across 56 countries worldwide.
Join women and non-binary people in solidarity in on March 8th on the Picket Lines. Be part of this movement as women strike from their jobs, university, housework and sex!
We strike for women who face sexual harassment in work, often perpetrated by bosses. We strike for women and non-binary people living in poverty who cannot afford to eat or heat their homes. We strike for every woman and non-binary person suffering as a consequence of austerity. We strike for every woman of transgender identity who has endured violence and whose womanhood is denied by the state, her doctor, her employees and society around her. We strike for every woman who has suffered domestic violence. We strike for women who is repeatedly told she is just going through a phase and has endured homophobia, biphobia or queerphobia. We strike for every woman who is overworked and underpaid in our NHS and works tirelessly to keep our system going.
In the university setting, we strike for our the women who are silenced by men who hold senior positions to them. We strike for the student workers who cannot freely afford education due to austerity measures. We strike for those who are punished for having families. We strike alongside UCU members, of which pension cuts will hit minorities hardest due to their already marginalised position.
