EMILY's List WA Awards

The Pat Giles Award is annually awarded in the honour of Patricia Jessie Giles AM.

Pat founded the Perth Women’s Electoral Lobby in 1973, was the first woman on the executive of the WA Trades and Labor Council in 1975, served as a Labor Senator from 1981 until 1993, led Australia’s delegation to the UN Decade for Women meetings in the 1980s, and served three terms as President of the International Alliance of Women, among many other accomplishments.

She was much loved and highly respected by women right across Australia as a women’s activist and passionate campaigner for a fair and equitable community.
