STATEMENT
There can be no peace without justice, equality and dignity for all.
In cities across the world we join together in collective strength with hope and resolution to forge a more peaceful future. We come together to grieve for the recent loss of precious life due to violence in all forms, including terrorist, state, corporate, domestic.

We grieve together for the loss of life and injury due to acts of terrorism including
Charlottesville; Turku, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; Manchester and London; Paris, Nice; Berlin, Germany; Brussels, Belgium; Surgut, Russia; Maiduguri, Nigeria; Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; Kabul, Afghanistan; Baghdad, Iraq; Quetta, Pakistan; Marawi, Philippines and so many more.

We grieve together for the loss of life due to disregard and negligence. We remember those who died in Grenfell Tower, their families, all those who still remain homeless and all those impacted within the local community. We grieve the climate of profit over people that allows these crimes to incubate.

We grieve together the impact of gross inequality that is making the rich richer, the poor poorer and the everyday suffering perpetrated. We grieve the insidious harm of those that deflect rightful anger away from this inequality towards the least responsible through the cynical politics of fear. We witness the harm inflicted on the fabric of our communities by a reckless and self-serving politics of scapegoating, particularly along faultlines of race, gender and class.

We grieve together for the women and men of colour who have died or been harmed at the hands of the police. We stand with their families who seek truth, accountability and justice. We witness their courage and resilience.

We grieve together the relentless harm and suffering caused by the persistence, protection, promotion of systemic racism

We grieve together for those who have died as refugees driven from homes and countries devastated by war and other causes beyond their control - and for those, including so many children, who remain homeless and vulnerable. We grieve those held in detention centres whose human rights are breached behind a cloak of invisibility.

We grieve together the impact on our children forced to witness the conditions being created for racism to thrive. We grieve the impact on our youth of growing up in a climate of anxiety and division - and the legacy for our communities.

We grieve together the lives lost from domestic violence. We think of the children who witness this violence and suffer its repercussions in their lives.

We grieve together the devastation and huge loss of life due to war - Syria, Yemen among so many others. We stand as witness to the political promotion of an arms industry that is putting weapons into the hands of countries abusing human rights.

We grieve together for the ongoing damage being done to our planet - the decimation of livelihoods of those on the frontline of global warming; the irretrievable loss of countless species and habitats by those determined to persist in unabated exploitation.

We will see each other, we will hear each other, we will learn from each other

WE STAND TOGETHER AGAINST THE FORCES OF HATE AND DIVISION - FOR PEACE

If you'd like to organise a walk for peace in a city where you live please get in touch.
