The fourth, and last, Speaking Volumes event will focus on the importance of writing in the art discipline. Artist Tessa Lynch (GI Director’s programme) will open up her artistic practice through a shared conversation with writer and curator Jenny Richards and writer Rhona Warwick Paterson.
Speaking Volumes is a collaborative project by Glasgow Women’s Library and My Bookcase for the world-renowned biennial festival of contemporary art Glasgow International of Festival of Visual Arts (GI). For the 2016 edition of GI (8th to 25th April), My Bookcase and Glasgow Women’s Library have teamed up to create a space where reflection on the influential role of women in art is activated through the object of the book. A series of In Conversation events will happen through April.
Speaking Volumes #4: Tessa Lynch in conversation with Jenny Richards & Rhona Warwick, Sunday 24th April, 2pm to 3.30pm
Tessa Lynch is a visual artist based in Glasgow. Her piece ‘Painter’s Table’ for Glasgow International is a site-specific installation and performance presented at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). This piece, centered on the female body moving through landscape, is highly influenced by female writing. Of special importance have been the work of Jenny Richards and Rhona Warwick Paterson.
Through this conversation, Tessa Lynch, Jenny Richards and Rhona Warwick will create a space within Speaking Volumes reading room where to reflect on their collaborative work and words for Painter’s Table.
