Description
Seit der Gründung der Stadt kurz vor Christi Geburt, hat Köln von seiner Lage am Rhein als einer der bedeutendsten Wasserstraßen Europas profitiert. Der antike Hafen war lange Zeit jedoch kaum erforscht. Erst Ausgrabungen beim Bau einer neuen U-Bahn-Linie haben Licht ins Dunkel gebracht. Das Hafenbecken erwies sich als wahre Fundgrube: Fast zwei Millionen Artefakte zeugen vom Handel der antiken Stadt, die mit den vielen Landschaften des Imperium Romanum verknüpft war.
